The Original Playcoat is the first and only dog coat dedicated to protect dogs from harm, like dog attacks and scraps.

Our grey fabric is military grade and is 3x the strength of Kevlar, yet as flexible and lightweight as any regular dog coat.

The fleece lining, made from recycled plastic bottles, keeps your dog lovely & warm on those cool or wet wintery walks.

What is Jacron?

Jacron is a vegan alternative to leather.

Made from a sustainable kraft paper material made from water, natural rubber and cellulose (main substance in the walls of plant cells- e.g. carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms).

Our dog coat is designed to provide both style, functionality & all around protection. The fit is carefully crafted to complement a dog's natural silhouette, with adjustable straps for versatile.

Ideal for daily use, it effortlessly combines elegance with practicality, making it the perfect dog coat whether for chilly walk or wet stroll in the park. No matter your dog is safer wearing their Playcoat.

If your dog is between sizes- go for the larger size, as it will offer better coverage. These are approx measurements.

Struggling to find the right size? No dog should be left without protection, email our team if your dog needs a larger or smaller dimensions. Custom Playcoats start at an additional £20.

But please note any customised orders cannot be refunded, as they are bespoke.

"I promised my first dog, my heart dog Nelly, that I would take her to see the ocean. I wasn't able to keep that promise, she crossed the rainbow bridge way to soon. Now I promised my second dog, my soul dog Nelly the same thing. And I will keep this promise! I will Take Sammy to see the ocean and feel the sand under her paws. Care Instructions

The Playcoat can be machine washed, turn the coat inside o (30 Degrees) and left to air dry.

If you have chosen the leather label remember to feed it with leather balm- to keep it look good for longer.

Your dog does not need to avoid contact with sharp objects, because this dog coat is design not to break.

Orders are often made to order, so please allow up to 7 days to dispatch during busy periods. Yet, orders are typically made and processed within 1-2 business days, with delivery times varying based on your location.

Loophole in US Tariffs

Orders under £800 exporting to the US, is highly unlikely to be affected the new tariffs.

Also, as all our products are made and manufactured in the UK (originates), US purchasers would be highly unlikely to be affected.

Fantastic!

Love this stylish and practical coat. We had been looking for something like this for a while - just the thing to protect our accident prone lurcher!

This is a dog owner necessity!

My gentle giant Dart has been the victim of several dog attacks, and while his size may say otherwise, he is simply not capable of defending himself. This was obviously a huge cause for anxiety, even more so with Dart being my assistance dog. And so I started my search for what seemed like the impossible- a coat big enough to fit my small horse sized dog, that would protect him from dog attacks but also be light enough for him to wear year round. That is how I found West&Jones and the wonderful Lucy, who responded promptly to my email request for a custom size to fit my boy! And as if that wasn't amazing enough, it turns out the West&Jones place of operation was right on my doorstep, which allowed for easy fittings on the fly aswell as a fantastic opportunity for Dart to step into the world of modelling and extend the size range of the Play Coat!

Dart never leaves the house without his armour, so I never have to see him hurt again.

Exactly what I was looking for

I'm located in the US and have been watching and waiting for these coats to be available for purchase here. There's really nothing like it on the market here. I was seeking a tough and protective coat to solve multiple concerns--the ever-present risk of loose dogs while out walking, the rough cover (multiflora roses, etc.) we work through when tracking, and even wildlife.

I'm delighted to say that after corresponding with Lucy and figuring out the right size for my big-noggin boy, I just received cotton-lined playcoats for both of my Lancashire Heelers.

Since the boy's coat required customization, I tried his on first. Perfection! The neck fits exactly right without being difficult to slide over his head (the area of concern), and the coat fits well while allowing freedom of motion.

My girl was next to try on her "off the rack" coat, which also fit perfectly. She's a little fussier about coats and found nothing to rub, roll, or scratch at, so that's quite an endorsement.

The coats are truly high quality both in appearance and construction. I love the look, and the thoughtful details and craftsmanship that went into these coats.

Fantastic coat

Brought one of these fantastic coats for my 50+Kg house hippo to help protect against nipping while running around with other large breeds who like to herd. Impressive quality and customer service. The coat looks good and does everything it’s supposed to do.

Custom Baby Hippo Armour and Warmer - Shadows first coat!

Our oddly shaped little hippo is a rather stout girl and as such didn't fit into the standard sizing available, she's rather short and rather wide so we had to reach out and ask if Lucy would be able to help fit our little hippo. She was awesome sorted everything so we could cover our gorgeous shadow in one of these coats and she even helped advise of what coat would be best as our hippo loves a wallow.

Unfortunately our silly little hippo is the nicest girly about town, but as such she's too nice to defend herself and after a small bite from an aggressive dog down the park, we thought it best to get the little hippo some armour and a gorgeous coat to boot.

Shadow loves her coat and waits patiently at my feet once her harness is on, waiting for me to put her jacket on too. It keeps her warm, dry, protected and cute as all hell.
