The Original Playcoat is the first and only dog coat dedicated to protect dogs from harm, like dog attacks and scraps.

Our grey fabric is military grade and is 3x the strength of Kevlar, yet as flexible and lightweight as any regular dog coat.

The fleece lining, made from recycled plastic bottles, keeps your dog lovely & warm on those cool or wet wintery walks.

What is Jacron?

Jacron is a vegan alternative to leather.

Made from a sustainable kraft paper material made from water, natural rubber and cellulose (main substance in the walls of plant cells- e.g. carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms).

Our dog coat is designed to provide both style, functionality & all around protection. The fit is carefully crafted to complement a dog's natural silhouette, with adjustable straps for versatile.

Ideal for daily use, it effortlessly combines elegance with practicality, making it the perfect dog coat whether for chilly walk or wet stroll in the park. No matter your dog is safer wearing their Playcoat.

If your dog is between sizes- go for the larger size, as it will offer better coverage. These are approx measurements.

Struggling to find the right size? No dog should be left without protection, email our team if your dog needs a larger or smaller dimensions. But please note any customised orders cannot be refunded, as they are bespoke.

Care Instructions

The Playcoat can be machine washed, turn the coat inside out (30 Degrees) and left to air dry.

If you have chosen the leather label remember to feed it with leather balm- to keep it look good for longer.

Your dog does not need to avoid contact with sharp objects, because this dog coat is design not to break.

Life Saving Coat for my Puppy

I am very lucky to have come across the West and Jones playcoat. Not only is the product very well designed and constructed, it gives me peace of mind that my pup Reggie is safe. Lucy's amazing customer service made buying a Playcoat easy and stress-free. My only gripe is that I wasn't fast enough to open the package and my partner got the privilege of opening the amazing packaging. All in all, I can't recommend this coat enough. I can't wait to order Reggies adult coat!

A Life Saver

Firstly thank you Lucy for designing and creating the Playcoat. My Labrador Sam was attacked whilst I was walking him on his lead. The attack resulted in severe injuries to his ear and neck, following this I began to investigate safety coats. I eventually found West and Jones, Lucy was so helpful and kind and adjusted the sizing of the coat. I now feel confident to take Sam for a walk, knowing he is protected. It will also keep him warm and dry in the bad weather. I can't thank Lucy enough. I am so impressed with the quality of the material and will also be purchasing the snood for added protection.

Genius

This is such a clever idea and the coat did not disappoint. If you ever have or had the misfortune to witness a dog attack, you will understand why this is so brilliant. My dog needed a new coat so this was a no brainier but also it’s so very stylish. My only complaint would be that as I walk my dog on a collar and not a harness, I’ve noticed there is not an opening for this. But all in all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Giving 5 stars because we can't give 10!!!

The title says it all really. We had a recurring problem when our dogs ran together, that Wilbur (brindle Galgo in the Playcoat) was getting tagged by our larger dog's teeth (Carrot, black ex-racing greyhound). Carrot has an overbite; and as you can see, runs with his mouth open. Because of their speed and agility, Wilbur suffered several deep lacerations over time from them just playing, resulting in large vet bills and stitches. It took a lot of searching on the web before we came across West & Jones' fantastic Playcoat. We consulted with Lucy at length before and after buying the coat - we asked for the drop to be longer than standard because of the length of Wilbur's thighs and shoulders. This led to a subsequent problem where the front of the coat was rubbing on his front legs, requiring a further modification. Lucy was supremely patient and understanding about Wilbur's plight and instrumental in getting Wilbur's coat set up just right for him. As you can see, he is a very active dog, but the coat does not hinder his movement or slow him down! As the title says, I'm rating the coat and the fantastically understanding Lucy 5 stars only because we can't put 10. Had we not found the Playcoat, we would have had to muzzle Carrot - which would have set his rehabilitation back massively, and which we want to avoid if at all possible. The West & Jones Playcoat protects both dogs from potential harm, and has been a godsend for Wilbur.
