The Buddy — Protective Clothing for Working Gundogs

For working dogs, whether stalking, retrieving or hunting, The Buddy is designed to offer protection without compromising the way they work. It is the only protective jacket with the armour positioned on the exterior, creating a protective barrier between your dog and the hazards they may encounter when moving through unpredictable terrain.

Made from our fabric, Safety Tweed, it is a fabric that has been developed to be stronger than Kevlar, yet thinner and more flexible. From brambles and barbed wire to encounters with wildlife, The Buddy is designed to protect when your dog is diving into the unknown — helping them work with confidence, wherever the countryside takes them.

We have deliberately stripped back the bulk and weight found in traditional protective jackets, using just two carefully considered layers. The result is a lighter, less cumbersome jacket that helps your dog stay cooler, retain their natural agility and work for longer without unnecessary restriction.

It resists tears where ordinary fabrics can fail, while hitchhiker burrs and spiky seed heads are unable to cling to the fabric in the same way they do to many other materials.

Combined with our repair service, The Buddy is designed not simply as a purchase, but as a long-term investment in your dog's protection.

Fit

Two Fits. One Purpose.

We recognise that working dogs are not all built the same. That is why The Buddy is now available in two carefully considered fits.

Barrel Chested

For dogs with a broader, rounded chest, such as Spaniels and Labradors.

Narrow Chested

For dogs with a narrower yet deeper chest, such as Pointers and Vizslas.

Each fit has been developed to better follow the natural shape of the dog, because protective clothing should work with your dog — not ask your dog to fit the clothing.

If your dog falls between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger option for better coverage. These measurements are approximate.

Struggling to find the perfect fit? No dog should go without protection. Contact our team for bespoke sizing — custom Buddys start at an additional £20. Please note that bespoke orders are non-refundable.

During this appointment, we’ll guide you through the correct way to measure, ensuring a precise and comfortable fit. We’re also happy to answer any questions you may have about the Buddy, so you can feel confident in your choice.

Care Instructions

The Buddy is machine washable — simply turn the jacket inside out and wash at 30°C, then leave to air dry.

For the leather label, apply leather balm regularly to maintain its appearance and longevity.

Many of our products are made to order. During busy periods, please allow up to 7 days for dispatch. Typically, orders are processed within 1–2 business days, with delivery times varying by location.

All shipments include insurance at no extra cost.

International Shipping

If your country does not appear at checkout, please contact us via email. You may be among the first customers ordering from your region, and we’re happy to assist.

US Tariffs

All parcels shipped to the U.S. will now have a tariff of just 10% of the parcel’s value.

For example:
If you order The Buddy (£150 / $200), the tariff will be £15 / $20.

After you place your order, we’ll send an invoice for the tariff amount plus a small £0.50 ($0.67) handling fee charged by Royal Mail. Rest assured, we don’t maany profit from this charge.

You will receive an email with your invoice for the applicable tariff fees. Payment is kindly requested within 30 days of receipt. Should payment not be received within this period, your order will be refunded. Please note that a 10% administrative fee will be deducted from the total refund.

Guarantees

1-Year Product Guarantee

Our clothing is made to last, and we are pleased to stand behind that craftsmanship with a 1-Year Product Guarantee across all our clothing.

The guarantee covers the construction, stitching, fabric and components of your coat. For example, should the lining fabric fail within the first year, simply contact us with your Number of Authenticity or Order Number, and we will arrange a repair where the issue falls within the guarantee.

For products more than a year old, our repair service remains available, but a small fee with be asked. We believe in repairing well-made clothing wherever possible, rather than expecting you to replace it.

All repairs we ask for the return postage to be paid by you.
